23 Jan Dedication to a Cause – Stumbling Upon a Purpose
As we mentioned during last month’s edition of our Newsletter, PA Today refrained from sending Christmas cards in December, and instead donated money to Visyon, a charity dedicated to empowering young people.
Do you or your business support a local charity or volunteer your time?
If so, what benefit have you noticed? Have you become more empathetic, are your actions more focused or are you simply humbled by the work of the charity and inspired by those involved?
There are many reasons why supporting a cause can be mutually beneficial. Aside from the obvious benefit to your chosen charity of your donation of time or money, the following gains can also apply to you and your business:
• Identifying a cause can focus your business strategy – aligning your values with objectives and providing a constant in an environment of constant change
• Great for team morale – donating can provide a team boost. Also, volunteering can prove to be a fantastic team building opportunity with the potential for staff to display hidden skills
• Supporting a new cause is an opportunity to meet new people and create new opportunities
If you feel that it is the right time for your business to be an active supporter of a charitable cause; whether local, national or international, take some time to research the right one for you and your values.
