So we’re motoring through to March. How is 2019 treating you so far? Are you reaching your goals, are you optimistic about the future months and do you feel in control? If the answer is yes to all of the above, then well done – this is fantastic news! However, if you’re struggling a little and feel like 2019 is whizzing by without you, then never fear. Here are some tips to get you back on track!
Mapping out your year, if you haven’t done so already, means that you are approaching 2019 with purpose. To set out your intentions and expectations and align these with a plan gives you the motivation and confidence to go after what you really want to achieve. Here are some things to consider when mapping out the remainder of this year;
Have you outlined all of the key dates in your calendar for this year? These may include national or international celebrations and holidays, business anniversaries, trade shows and events, development or training opportunities and many more.
What is your key focus for 2019? Business development, improved processes, improved work/life balance? Whatever it may be, by focusing on your priorities primarily, you will find that you can automatically slot other activities around these priorities in your calendar. Take a couple of hours this month to map out exactly how you intend to prioritise this focus and the other aspects should fall in to place.
Ensure that you leave yourself enough time to recharge your batteries. If business is simply too busy for you to take an official holiday this year, can you make the most of bank holidays or weekends? Failing this, can you carve out some time for yourself on a monthly basis, even if it is only for a few hours. It’s important that you take time away from work so that you can see the bigger picture. It will help you to focus when you return.
Spikes in service requirements
Do you have times throughout the year when you are expecting things to become busy? Do you have enough resource to cope? Is there anything else that you can do to maximise the opportunity that this peak may bring? Map out your requirements now and you’ll feel much better equipped when the time comes!
Are you looking to launch a new product or service this year? Perhaps you have an exciting event that you want to unveil to your new or existing customers? Map out everything that you will need for launch, including resources, information, support. How much time will you need to gather these resources and bring everything together? Plan as far in advance as possible to allow for the unexpected.
